Nona Sue Onley, 73, of Pflugerville, TX passed away June 28, 2022. Nona was born on June 20, 1949, in Rockford, IL to Kenneth and Elaine (Poliska) Peters. A few years after graduating high school, she moved to California and lived there for 30+ years. Later in life, she moved back to Rockford and lived with her mother, Elaine, and had a great group of friends in the Rockford area. She eventually settled in Pflugerville, Texas in 2011 and has enjoyed 10+ years of fun gatherings and line dancing! She adopted the neighborhood kids as her own and created some wonderful and lasting friendships with neighbors and her dancing crew. She enjoyed throwing parties, baking decorative cakes and was always one you could count on for a laugh or a great story about yaks or geckos.

Survivors include brother, Joel (Julie) Peters of Port Byron, IL; aunt, Norma Peters of Rochelle, IL; nephews: Dean (Patty) Erwin of Wentzville, MO, Daniel (Debbie) Erwin of Rockford, IL, Nicholas (Ashley) Peters of Stoughton, WI, Douglas (Megan) Peters of Boulder, CO; niece, Kiley (Chris) Gilbert of Stoughton, WI; great nephews and nieces: Breanna (Michael) Cohen, Joshua Erwin, Dillon Erwin, Ian Erwin, Sydney Erwin; several great-great nephews and tons of loving friends in Rockford and Pflugerville.

She is predeceased by parents, Kenneth and Elaine (Poliska) Peters and sister, Patricia (Peters) Fosberg.

Memorial visitation will be from 4-6 pm, Friday, July 22, 2022, at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. The memorial service will follow at 6 pm with Pastor Robert Rub officiating. Burial will be at Lindenwood Cemetery in Lindenwood, IL at a later date.
