Norma J. Peters, age 101, of Rochelle, Illinois, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2026, in Rochelle.
Norma was born March 2, 1925, in Rochelle, Illinois, the daughter of Dean and Madge (Fowler) Leonard. She graduated from Rochelle Township High School.
She married Harold Wesley Peters on September 11, 1943, in Savanna, Illinois. He preceded her in death on July 21, 1973.
Norma was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rochelle and a member of the Rochelle Hospital Auxiliary. She had a lifelong love for her furry companions and enjoyed knitting and playing slot machines.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Wesley Peters; her son, Andy Peters; her grandchildren, Kevin Pfab and Todd Pfab; and her special dog, Mazie. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff and nurses at the Rochelle Community Hospital for their professional and loving care.
She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Pfab of Lindenwood, Illinois, and Dawn (Tom) Smith of Rochelle, Illinois; her daughter-in-law, Marilyn Peters of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; her grandchildren, Shane and Tanja Bowling, Jason Smith, Amy Smith, Larissa (David) Speer, and Payton (Evan) Pearson; seven great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; her longtime friends, Ginny Kettleson of Creston, Illinois, and Nancy Krahenbuhl of Rochelle, Illinois; and her beloved companion, Ollie.
A public visitation will be held Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at Unger-Horner Funeral Home in Rochelle. A graveside service will follow at approximately 12:00 noon at Trinity Memory Gardens in Rochelle. Following the graveside service, a luncheon will be held at approximately 1:00 p.m. at the Rochelle VFW.
Memorials may be made to TAILS or Serenity Hospice and Home of Oregon, Illinois.
