Norman Robert Horter, age 72, died on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at his home. He was born on September 27, 1939 in St. Louis, MO, the son of Karl Peter and Kathryn House Horter. He served in the US Army from 1961 to 1967. He married Judy L. Shook on June 6, 1966 in Rochelle, she preceded him in death on September 15, 2007. He is also preceded in death by his parents and a brother: Peter Horter. Norm was an owner operator of many business, but most recently enjoyed and worked as the custodian at the First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his son: Blaise Horter of Davis Junction; sister: Ann (John) Holub of St. Charles, MO; special niece and nephews: Mary Jo (Marvin) Metzger, Steve (Pam) Gillis and Mark Gillis; and numerous great nieces and great nephews.

Memorial service will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 13, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church, Rochelle with the Rev. James A. Tilley officiating.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 - 7 PM at the Unger Horner Funeral Home, 400 N 6th St., Rochelle.

Burial of his cremated body will be at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Creston, with military services provided by the Eastern Lee Ogle Honor Guard.
