Petra Ramos, 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at her home with her family by her side. She was born on April 12, 1942, in Sombrerete, Mexico, the daughter of Julian and Lorenza (Perez) Solis. On November 1, 1961, she married Primitivo Ramos in Sombrerete, Mexico.

Petra was a woman of deep faith and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed gardening and loved her flowers, and listening to music and shopping were among her favorite pastimes. She found great joy in cooking for her family and spending time with each one of them, remaining deeply devoted to her seven children throughout their adult lives. She also cherished her pet Chihuahua, Guy, with whom she shared many happy years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Julian and Lorenza (Perez) Solis; two brothers, Jesus Solis and Julio Solis; and three sisters, Irene Solis, Carmela Solis, and Soledad Solis.

Petra is survived by her husband, Primitivo Ramos, of Rochelle; five sons, Rodrigo (Patty) Ramos, Mario Ramos, Robert (Sonia) Ramos, and John (Carrie) Ramos, all of Rochelle, and Danny (Sharon) Ramos of DeKalb; two daughters, Flor (Jose) Robles and Patty (Nathan) Martinez, both of Rochelle; one brother, Pablo Solis, of Piedras Negras, Mexico; two sisters, Emilia Solis and Maria Solis, both of Sombrerete, Mexico; 18 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The visitation will be from 4:00 P.M to 7 P.M. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 946 Kelley Drive, Rochelle. Burial will follow the service at Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle. Le sobreviven su esposo, Primitivo Ramos, de Rochelle; cinco hijos, Rodrigo (Patty) Ramos, Mario Ramos, Robert (Sonia) Ramos, and John (Carrie) Ramos, todos de Rochelle, y Danny (Sharon) Ramos, de DeKalb; dos hijas, Flor (Jose) Robles and Patty (Nathan) Martinez, ambas de Rochelle; un hermano, Pablo Solis, de Piedras Negras, México; dos hermanas, Emilia Solis y Maria Solis, ambas de Sombrerete, México; dieciocho nietos; y doce bisnietos.

La visita será de 4:00 p. m. a 7:00 p. m. el miércoles 8 de julio de 2026 en la funeraria Unger-Horner, ubicada en 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. El servicio funerario se llevará a cabo a las 11:00 a. m. el jueves 9 de julio de 2026 en la Iglesia Católica St. Patrick, ubicada en 946 Kelley Drive, Rochelle.
