Phyllis M. Cherie, age 88 of Stillman Valley, IL, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008 at Rochelle Community Hospital. She was born on May 31, 1919 in Rockford, IL the daughter of
Leroy J. and Elizabeth Ann (Strang) Hannon. Phyllis married Julius H. "Joe" Cherie on June 2, 1951 in Chicago, and he preceded her on April 1, 2003. She owned Cherie Ceramics in Byron, IL.

Survivors include 6 nephews: Howard "Skip" Hannon, and Michael Hannon both of Montgomery, IL; Jim (Liuda) Akey
of Oxford, MS, Don (Carrie) Akey of Memphis, TN, and William (Gail) Akey of Germantown, TN; a niece: Sandra (Wayne) Spitzer of North Lake, IL; a sister: Vi Akey of Rochelle and best friend: Alice Hanford.

Funeral services will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Rochelle, with Rev. Dr. James Tilley on Wed. January 16, 2008 at 10:30 AM. Visitation will be at Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle, IL, on Tuesday, Jan. 15th from 4 to 8 PM. Burial will be at Lawnridge Cemetery. Memorials can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
