Phyllis A. Pottinger, 82, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at Prairie Crossing Living and Rehabilitation in Shabbona, Illinois. Phyllis was born on November 19, 1943, the daughter of Roy T. and Clara B. (Garrison) Wollitz in St. Louis, Missouri. On November 19, 1981, she married William Pottinger in Rochelle.

Phyllis enjoyed coloring, cross stitching and dancing. She found great joy in the world around her marveling at the eagles, deer, turkeys and hummingbirds. Roses of all colors were her favorite. Above all, she loved the time she spent with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband, William Pottinger, on March 5, 2005; her son's father, Sonny Richardson; son-in-law, Greg Stroh; grandson, Douglas Richardson; brother, Roy Wollitz and brother-in-law, Harry Sweger.

Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Vanessa Stroh of Rochelle, IL; Michael (Wendy) Richardson of King George, VA; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, including grandchildren: Gerri (John) Hanson, Alex Richardson and Carolee Wilson; two sisters: Shelia Sweger of Hardin, KY and Kathy (Philip) Manni of St. Joseph, MI.
