Ramona (Mona) Sweger was born in Wayne City, IL on September 3, 1956 to Rudy and Joyce Pena. Ramona worked for many years for Eaton until the plant closed and then worked for Silgan Containers in Rochelle. Mona had a passion for garage sales and thrift shops, but her biggest passion was for her grandchildren. Mona passed away suddenly in her home on Monday, September 22, 2014.
Mona is survived by her only son, Wesley Sweger, and two loving granddaughters: EmmaJo Sweger and Annalise Flowers. She is also survived by her significant other of 22 years, Dan Bennett. Surviving also is her mother, Joyce Pena, her brother, Sonny (Helen) Pena and sister, Becky Baumgartner. She was also very close with and survived by her niece and nephews: Josh Pena and his daughter, Bailey and son, Alexander, Nikki Provow and her sons: Logan and Keegan and Dusty Provow and his son, Maddox. She is only preceded in death by her father, Rudy.
Celebration of life service will be 12:00 noon, September 27, 2014 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. The visitation will be from 9:00 - 11:45 A.M., prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
