Raymond D. Sheehy, 77, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, December 2, 2014 in Rochelle, Illinois. Ray was born April 27, 1937 to Edwin R. And Nellie G. (Butterfield) Sheehy in Polk City, Iowa. He proudly served our country with the United States Army. Ray married Edna Mae Burnheimer on December 18, 1962. He was a research director for WGN and WBBM for many years. Preceding him in death are his wife, Edna, on December 16, 2013 and his brother, LaVern Sheehy.

Ray is survived by three children: Daniel Sheehy, Carol (Charlie) Benge both of Rochelle and Jim (Annette Chu) Sheehy of Creston; his brother, Arlie (Nancy) Sheehy of Omaha, Nebraska; two sisters: Norma (Orin) Erickson of Slater, Iowa and Audrey (Lee) McKnabb of Shelby, Iowa; sister-in-law, Jane Sheehy of Ankeny, Iowa and four grandchildren: Brandon, Ashley, Dylan Benge and Victoria Sheehy.

The funeral service will be held 10:00 A.M., Monday, December 8, 2014 at New Beginnings Baptist Church in Creston with Pastor Al Roose officiating. The visitation will be from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M., Sunday, December 7 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery following the funeral with military services provided by Eastern-Lee Ogle Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to New Beginnings Baptist Church or to Serenity Hospice and Home.
