Refugio B. Ramos, 70, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2015 in Rochelle. Refugio was born on July 4, 1944 in Sombrerete, Zacatecas, Mexico to Luis and Piedad (Barrios) Ramos. He married Juana Avila on September 30, 1964 in Mexico. After moving to Rochelle, he faithfully worked for Del Monte Foods for 35 years. He also was the owner of the Hillcrest Motel for 17 years and La Chiquita Grocery Store for 21 years. Refugio was preceded in death by his parents, Luis and Piedad Ramos, sister: Andrea Ramirez, brother Gregorio Ramos, and infant son, Eliseo Ramos.

Refugio is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Juana, seven children: Rosa (Ruben) Cruz of Fort Worth, TX, Magdalena (Sergio) Olguin of Euless, TX, Claudio (Jodie) Ramos of Euless, TX, Sally (David) Thomas of Euless, TX, Eduardo Ramos of Rochelle, Sergio (Kelly) Ramos of South Beloit, IL and Emily (James) Schwend of Euless, TX; three brothers: Primitivo Ramos, Santiago Ramos and Gonzalo Ramos; four sisters: Julia Navejas, Feliciana Ramos, Abelina Hernandez and Mary McCrea and 18 grandchildren: Rosie Cruz, Leti Cruz, Ruben Cruz, Julian Cruz, Christian Olguin, Adrian Olguin, Madeline Olguin, Isaac Ramos, Anniston Ramos, Ashlin Thomas, Tyson Thomas, Sierra Ramos, Macy Ramos, Drake Ramos, Analise Ramos, Josiah Ramos, Silas Ramos, and Ryker Schwend.

The funeral service will be 11 A.M. on Monday , February 9, 2015 at Iglesia Buenas Nuevas Asamblea De Dios (Glad Tidings Church) 200 Wayne Rd., Hillcrest, with Pastor Joe Rodriguez Jr. officiating. The visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:30 P.M., Sunday, February 8, at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle with a prayer and music celebration time at 4:30. The burial will follow the service at Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
