Obituary
Retha M. Helgeson, age 97, of Rochelle, passed away at Rochelle Gardens Care Center on Wed.
Feb. 13, 2008. She was born on Jan. 22, 1911 in Johnsonville, IL, the daughter of George and
Isabelle (Powless) Melton. Retha married Joe M. Helgeson on Oct. 16, 1929 in Dixon, IL and he preceded her on May 16, 1953. She was also preceded by a sister: Lora Taylor. She was a member of the Rochelle United Methodist Church. In 1973 she retired from DelMonte Corp. where she was in quality control.
Survivors include; several nieces and nephews including: Barbara (Herb) Holdren,
Paul (Dottie) Hawker and Shelby (Herb) Hawker all of Hazel Dell, IL and Janice Warren of Michigan.
Services will be held at Unger-Horner Funeral Home on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008 at 1:00 PM
with Rev. Brett Todd officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 to 1:00 prior to the service
at Unger-Horner. Burial will be at Lawnridge Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Rochelle
United Methodist Church.
