Reuben H. Brink, known as "Brink" to his family and friends,83, of Lindenwood, died Saturday, Feb. 7, in his home, surrounded by his family. Born August 12,1925, in Davis
Junction, IL the son of Hiram and Mabel (Albright) Brink. Married Juanita Jeanne Stanfel on October 30,1948 in McHenry, IL. Brink served in the US Navy, 1943-1946 followed by 3 years in the Naval Reserves. He co-owned Brink and Jaeger Construction with his life long friend, Theodore Jaeger, building many wonderful homes and offices in Rochelle, Lindenwood and surrounding areas. Reality. Brink was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Rochelle for 60 years serving on various councils and committees. He had a strong belief in giving back to his community and did so by serving on the Lynn-Scott-Rock Volunteer Fire Department as fireman and Chief as well as the Lindenwood School Board, serving as President during the consolidation of the Esmond and Lindenwood school districts. He volunteered with the local Boy Scouts, was a life member of
VFW post 3878, and was chairman of the Ogle County Planning Commission.
Brink enjoyed golfing, woodworking, feeding the birds, yard work, talking with friends- those he knew and those he just met. His strong Christian faith was handed down to his children and grandchildren.
Survivors included: his beloved wife, Juanita;
children Cathleen (John) Pearson, Christine (Christopher) Roberts, Lindenwood; Daniel (Kathryn) Brink, Niceville, FL; Rebecca (Edward) Cheek, DeKalb; and Michele (Jeffrey) Glen, Rochelle.
Grandchildren Matthew (April) Wells, Thomas Brink, Elisabeth (Kyle) Olson, Heather and Ethan Cheek, Justin and Megan Glen. Step-grandchildren Mark (Cindy) Pearson, Todd Pearson, Courtney and Lindsey Roberts. One great-grandchild and three step-great-grandchildren.
Service at 11:00 AM, Saturday, Feb. 14, in St. Patrick Catholic Church, Rochelle. Visitation from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, in Unger-Horner Funeral Home, with a Rosary at 6 PM. Burial with military honors in St. Patrick Cemetery provided by V.F.W. Post 3878. Memorials have been established to the Lynn-Scott-Rock Fire Department, Ogle County Hospice, and Eswood Grade School.
