Richard J. Govea, 72, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at his home in Rochelle, Illinois surrounded by his loving family.  Richard was born on February 22, 1952 to Ramiro and Angeline (Marquez) Govea in Chicago, IL.  On November 13, 1982, he married Margaret M. Blahnik in DeKalb, IL.

Richard is survived by his wife, Maggie Govea of Rochelle; three children: Francis (Nadia) Govea and their daughter, Phoebe Govea, of Morrison, IL, Ian Govea of Rochelle and Bobby (Kaity) Duffy Govea and their children, Ruby and River Duffy Govea of Westchester, IL; brother, Larry (Liz) Govea of Converse, TX; sister, Dolores Stone of Lakeland, FL; stepfather, Bobby Stellatos and stepsister, Rana (Lillian) Stellatos Downs; and sister-in-law, Fay Govea.

In addition to his parents, Ramiro Govea and Angeline Stellatos, he is preceded in death by his brother, David Govea.

Richard has donated his body to science.  There will be no services at this time.  Memorials may be made in Richard's memory to Northwestern Regional Cancer Center, 10 Health Services Drive, DeKalb, IL 60115.
