Obituary
Richard H. Hickerson, 88 of Rochelle, passed away on Wed. Oct. 7, 2009 at St. Anthony
Medical Center in Rockford, IL. He was born July 23, 1921 in DeKalb, IL the son of Ernest and Jennie Crooke Hickerson. Richard married Olive Svela on Feb 7, 1942.
He was a member of St Paul Lutheran Church. For 35 yrs. he owned and operated Hickerson Radiator and Air Conditioning shop. Richard also farmed for 64 years, retiring in 2006. He was the happiest when he was farming, fishing, or golfing with his son Roger.
Preceding him in death were two sons: David on Jan. 11, 1961 and Roger on June 3, 2006. Also, 3 brothers Tom, Vernon and Howard.
Survivors include his wife Olive of Rochelle; 2 daughters: Carolyn (Jon) Bieck of Oregon
and Joanne Coan of Rochelle; daughter in law: Virginia Hickerson of Joliet; 3 granddaughters:
Marilyn Bucher of Rockford, Debra Herzog of Rockford and Stacy (Raymond) McGinnis of Rochelle, and step granddaughter: Patricia Easter of Joliet, IL; 2 great granddaughters: Meghan Herzog, Cierra McGinnis and 2 step great grandsons: Michael and Kyle Easter.
Services will be held Monday 10:30 a.m. at St Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Gregory Hoffmann, officiating. Visitation Sunday 2 to 5 at Unger-Horner Funeral Home.
Burial at Lawnridge Cemetery.
Memorials to National Association for Down's Syndrome and Ogle County Hospice.
