Richard "Jake" Charles
Page
Apr 24, 1948 — Jun 17, 2026
Richard Charles “Jake” Page, 78, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 17, 2026in Reno, Nevada surrounded by his loving family. Richard was born on April 24, 1948 in Dodgeville, WI to Harvey W. and Amy (Paynter) Page. He was the youngest brother to Gary and Wayne.
Richard married Cynthia A. Goode on November 16, 1968, in San Antonio, TX while active duty in the USAF. Taking a pause from the Air Force, he attended Northern Illinois University obtaining his B.S. in Physics with a minor in education while working for the Rochelle News-Leader as a reporter and photographer. During this time, he and Cynthia welcomed their only child, Jeanine, in May of 1972.
After completing his education, he was commissioned as an Officer in the USAF. During his 22-year career with the Air Force, he worked in various roles including pest control technician, physicist and educator. He also obtained his master’s degree in physics from the Air Force Institute of Technology.
Richard retired in Reno and continued to work in his newly found free time, but this time in the IT industry, including the banking sector. He briefly worked as an educator at Hug High School. He stepped away from full-time work and continued on with his love of computers and the ability to help others by working independently.
His true passion was his love of music and instruments. Richard taught himself to play the clarinet after high school, then later violin, after spending hundreds of hours watching his daughter Jeanine during her violin lessons. He spent countless hours driving back and forth from Reno to Minden, Carson City and Lake Tahoe for band /orchestra rehearsals and performances. He was active in the Carson City Symphony, Mile High Jazz Band, Carson Valley Pops Orchestra and Rosebud’s Dance Band. He loved restoring (and making) instruments. He helped many band members when they needed minor repairs, and crafting instruments like a digeridoo for one-off performances.
Richard is survived by his wife, Cynthia; his daughter, Jeanine (Randy) of Las Vegas and grandchildren: Rian and Owen; his brothers: Gary of Chicago, IL Wayne (Sandy) of Rochelle,IL as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends who will miss him dearly.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to be made to the USO in Richard’s memory.
