Richard O. Patton, 74, went home to be with the Lord Monday, April 7, 2014 at his home in Rochelle. Rich was born August 2, 1939 to Pat and Eileen (Darnold) Patton in Taylorville, Illinois. He proudly served in the U.S. Army for four years. He married Michele Burroughs on August 27, 1977 in Clarendon Hills, IL. Rich was a retired carpenter of 56 years and enjoyed building the impossible. He and Michele bought Roadhouse Antiques in Creston, IL last July as a fun retirement adventure together. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Don, and his sister, Nancy Rausch.
Rich is survived by his wife, Michele, his son, Larry (Rebecca) Wright of Orlando, FL, his daughter, Jennifer Wright of Bloomingdale, IL, two grandchildren: Eddie V and Devon Ruble; sister-in-law, Sue Patton, of Percey, IL, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be 10:30 A.M., Friday, April 11, 2014 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6 th St., Rochelle with Pastor Angelo Bonacquisti officiating with military services provided by the Eastern Ogle/Lee Honor Guard immediately following the service. The visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M., Thursday, April 10 at the funeral home. Cremation rites will follow with burial at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Rochelle Homeless Shelter.
