Richard John Reed, 90, passed away Monday, June 1, 2026 at Franklin Grove Living and Rehabilitation Center in Franklin Grove, Illinois. Richard was born on May 31, 1936 in Granville, IL, the son of Frank D. and Amanda (Andre) Reed. On July 26, 1954, he married Marjorie Ann Brickey in Granville, IL. They were married 63 years when Marjorie passed on September 18, 2017.

After 30 years, Richard retired from Delmonte where he took great pride in his work. He enjoyed farming and baling hay for the horses. He was even driving a tractor when he was three years old. Richard loved his dog, cats, pigs and cows.

Richard is survived by his daughter, Patricia (Brian) Bearrows; son, Dennis (Stacy) Reed both of Rochelle, IL; nine grandchildren; several great grandchildren and special niece, Suann Whitney of Ottowa, IL.

In addition to his wife and parents, Richard is preceded in death by two sons: Danny and Donnie Reed; brother, Morris Reed; nieces: Joyce Reed and Barbara Reed; nephew, Ted Reed and sister-in-law, Eline Reed.

The visitation will be from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M., Friday, June 5, 2026 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 A.M., Friday. Burial is at Trinity Memory Gardens in Rochelle. Visit www.ungerhorner.com to sign the online guest book.
