Richard Seitz, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, age 73, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the Serenity Home in Oregon, with his family at his side. He was born on January 24, 1943 in Rochelle, the son of Arthur C. and Virginia E. Vogeler Seitz. Richard married Peggy A. Powell on April 23, 1965 in DeKalb. He served in the US Navy, and then worked for over 30 years for the Natural Gas Pipeline Company. Richard was a member of the Rochelle United Methodist Church, Rochelle Township High School Class of 1960, and after retirement volunteered at the Rochelle Museum. He enjoyed woodworking and was known to be able to fix anything. Preceded in death by his parents.
Survived by his wife, Peggy; 3 daughters: Kim Pierce of Rochelle, Sherry Seitz of St. Louis, MO, and Amy (Daniel) Hust of Phoenix, AZ,; 5 grandchildren: Tim (Kathleen) Isley, Kelly (Tony) Musselman, Carly (Nate) Vogeler, Cody, and Hannah Hust; 5 great grandchildren: Andrew, Natalie and Connor Isley, Calli Isley, Brooke Musselman and soon to be delivered, baby Musselman; sister: Sandra (Wendell) Colwill of Rochelle, and lifelong friend, Larry.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 26 at the Rochelle United Methodist Church with Reverends Dave Rogula and Rob Hamilton officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Unger Horner Funeral Home, 400 N 6th St., Rochelle. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rochelle United Methodist Church or the Serenity Hospice and Home.
