Richard Earl Watkins, 73, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025, in Rockford, Illinois.
He moved to Steward Illinois in 2019 with his wife, Connie, and had been a life-long resident of Florida.

Born on August 2, 1951, in Richmond, Virginia, Richard was a man who embraced life with passion and conviction. He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and found joy in fishing, cooking, and gathering with friends. Whether casting a line into the water or preparing a meal to share, he valued the simple pleasures of life and the company of those around him.

Richard was known for his strong opinions and never hesitated to share them. His candid nature made conversations with him lively and engaging, ensuring that those who knew him always had something to think about after speaking with him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Connie Watkins; his children:  Brianna (Brian) Mast, Rich Watkins, and Rocky Watkins; his grandchildren:  Magnum Mast, Maverick Mast, Madelyn Mast, Major Mast, and Madison Watkins; his siblings:  Karen (George) Boone, Lance (Audrey) Watkins, Cathi (Jim) Lester, and Kimberly (Jeff) Stuchell; as well as his brother- and sister-in-law, Terry and Bonnie Macklin.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Milton Watkins; his brothers:  Butch Watkins and Michael Watkins; and his sister, Kellene Severt.

His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May he rest in peace.
