Robert B. Colville died Monday, December 8, 2014 at Rochelle Rehabilitation and Health Center. He was born January 31, 1923 to James and Mary (Beedy) Colville in Floydada, Texas. He resided there until enlisting in the Army in 1942. He was assigned to the 10th Mountain Division and participated in both the Aleutian and Italian campaigns. After being discharged in 1945, he attended Washington State University for both undergraduate and graduate studies in horticulture. While there, he met his future wife, Yvonne Smith, and they were married December 29, 1951. Upon leaving college, he was employed by Del Monte Corp. in agriculture research in Toppenish, WA, Crystal City, TX and transferred to Rochelle in 1957. He retired in 1985 and became an active volunteer in community activities. He and Yvonne were given the Community Leader Award for 1994. He was a member of the Rochelle United Methodist Church, American Legion, and a charter member of the Kiwanis Golden K.
Bob is predeceased by his son, James, in 1991 and his brothers: Lynn and John. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne, daughters: Anne Colville (Kenneth Roberts) of Belleville, WI and Bette Colville (Paul Goellner) of Spooner, WI; daughter-in-law, Anne Colville (Steve Morrison) of Bettendorf, IA; foster daughter, Jennifer Thornton of Chicago, IL and grandchildren: Andrew (Natalie) Colville of Hyattsville, MD and Lucy Colville of New Orleans, LA.
The funeral service will be 11:00 A.M., Monday, December 15, 2014 at the Rochelle United Methodist Church, 709 4th Ave., Rochelle. The visitation will be from 9:30 - 10:45 A.M. prior to the funeral service. Immediately following the service a luncheon will be served at Hicks Hall. Burial will be 1:30 at Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle. The family requests memorials may be made to Rochelle United Methodist Church or Kiwanis Golden K.
