Robert W. Hultgren, age 84 of Rochelle, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007 at
Rochelle Rehabilitation Center. He was born on January 3, 1923 in Burlington, IA the
son of Gustave F. And Ester (Ericksen) Hultgren. Bob married V. Juanita VanBlaricom
on January 13, 1943 in Dubuque, IA.
Bob moved to Rochelle in 1946 after serving over 3 years in the United States Air Force.
Memberships include Moose Club, Horicon Lodge, Tebala Shrine, Past President of the Chamber of Commerce, Republican State Central Committeeman, former Ogle County Board Member, 34 year Republican Committeeman, and was a National Delegate for 2 presidential elections: Ford and Reagan.
Bob was a successful businessman, owed and operated taverns, restaurants, ware houses, and real estate companies, started the Rochelle Sanitation Co. and was one of the founders of Rochelle Cable company. He was in construction for 43 years and was President of Flagg Construction Company in Rochelle.
He loved playing poker, walking, being a Republican and being with his Grandson Brian.
Survivors include his wife Nita of Rochelle; 2 sons: Vance (Lois) Hultgren of Rochelle and Craig(Sue) Hultgren of Pecatonica, IL; 2 brothers: Harry (Peg) and Walter both of
Rockford; 2 sisters: Alice Johnson and Eleanor Dearth of Rockford;
3 grandsons: Jeff (Becca) Nelson of Idaho Falls, ID Travis (Lacey) Nelson of Idaho Falls, ID Brian Hultgren of Jacksonville, FL & 1 granddaughter Stacey Hultgren of Chicago and 4 Great Grand children Quentin, Callianne, William Mackade and Kylee .
Preceded by his parents 2 sisters Edith Grans and Gudrun Parker 1 brother Roy and a brother in law John Grans and a sister-in-law, Lois Hultgren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 Sunday Dec. 16th at Unger-Horner Funeral Home with Family service on Monday Dec. 17th at Lawnridge Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers Memorials can be made to the Rochelle Fire & Rescue Dept. and R.T.H.S. Education Foundation. The family would like to thank Bob's care givers and Lisa.
