Obituary

Robert (Bobby) Sage, Jr was delivered into the loving arms of his savior Jesus Christ on Sept 16, 2014, surrounded by his two sisters and daughter in Rochelle, IL, after a one-year battle with cancer. Bobby was 55 years old, living his entire life in Rochelle. Bobby found Christ in 2012 with the help of family and friends and through the love and support of the Rockford Rescue Mission and Heartland Community Church In Rockford, IL. God used his testimony and his love and compassion for others to help people suffering from addiction. He was well-known at the Rockford rescue mission for being a kind, soft-hearted person always willing to help. In 2013, Bobby helped transform the old Bob's hardware store in Rockford into the Rescue Mission thrift store, using drywall skills he learned from his father after 25 years of operating their drywall business, Community Drywall, in Rochelle.
Bobby enjoyed figuring out any type of gadget or machine, and also had a passion for animals, especially dogs and salt water aquarium creatures. In his teenage years he was into cars and motorcycles, particularly his Trans Am. He graduated from RTHS in 1977, and went on to help raise 3 loving children and five amazing grandchildren who were the love of his life.
