Robert Lee Meador, 84, formerly of Rochelle, died Monday, March 31, 2014 in Mesa, Arizona.

Bob was born October 22, 1929 to Mason and Opal (Fields) Meador in Mendota, Illinois and moved soon after to Mt. Vernon, Illinois. He was raised there on the family farm, and attended Mt. Vernon High School before leaving to join the Army. On February 26, 1949 he married Arline Payne and they moved to Rochelle, Illinois. They had six children and were later divorced. Bob spent most of his adult life working in automobile sales and ran his own dealership, Bob Meador Motors, in Rochelle, for several years before retiring. He was predeceased by an infant son, David, his two sisters: Mildred Staley and Dorothy Rogers and a brother, Joseph Meador.

Bob is survived by three sons: Phil (Barbara) and Jim (Cecilia) Meador, both of Rochelle and Rick (Carla) Meador of Mesa, Arizona; two daughters: Shirley (David) Crenshaw of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and Carolyn (Steve) Koontz of Livingston, Montana; a brother, Ronald Meador; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 - 8 PM on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at the Unger Horner Funeral Home, 400 N 6 ^th St., Rochelle. Graveside service will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 18, 2014 at the Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle with Rev. Jeremy Horton officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Grace Fellowship Church, 2128 IL Rt. 38, Ashton, IL 61006, or the Rochelle Hospital Foundation. Cremation rites have been accorded.
