Ronald Lee Bakken, 75, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2017 in Rockford, Illinois. Ron was born June 7, 1941 to Leonard and Irene (Blunk) Bakken in Des Moines, Iowa. He married Joan (Sluder) Farris on March 23, 1974 in Rochelle. Ron worked for Swift & Co for 20 years and then at Caron International for an additional 10 years. He retired from Americold in 1997. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Judith Rittgarn.
Ron is survived by his wife, Joan, of Rochelle; step children: Donald (Theresa) Farris, Elizabeth (Jason) Wreath and Denise Stanbery; seven step grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.
