Rochelle

Ronald Eugene Egland, 69, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon, Illinois.  Ron was born on May 4, 1954 to Amos C. and Genevieve J. (Ostewig) Egland in Rochelle.  On August 13, 1977, he married Beth Colwill in Rochelle.  He worked for the Nestle Corporation for many years.  He was a volunteer with the Rochelle Fire Department from 1980 to 2003 when he retired.

Ron enjoyed fishing, boating, cooking, especially grilling even in the snow and in his younger years, he enjoyed golfing.  He loved playing with his grandchildren and preferred having a full house filled with family and friends.

Ron is survived by his wife of 45 years, Beth; three children: Brianne (Paul) Hoffercamp of Oswego, IL, Adam Egland and Jeff Egland both of Rochelle; three brothers: Ken Egland of Waukesha, WI, Mike Egland of Dixon, IL and Brian (Ellen) Egland of Sugar Grove, IL; father-in-law, Pal Colwill of Rochelle; two grandchildren: Addison and Lucas Egland and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Amos and Genevieve, Ron is preceded in death by his brother, Steve and mother-in-law, Sandy Colwill.

A memorial visitation will be from 1:00 - 4:00 P.M., Saturday, July 1, 2023 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle.  The memorial service will follow at 4:00 P.M., Saturday at the funeral home.  Cremation care has been provided by the Unger-Horner Funeral Home.  Memorials may be made in Ron's memory to the Rochelle Fire Department or Serenity Hospice and Home.  Visit www.ungerhorner.com to sign the online guest book.
