Obituary

Roy E. Frye, 90, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at the Rochelle Community Hospital. Roy was born January 26, 1924 in Phoenix, AZ to George T. and Sophia A. (Shelton) Frye. He married Dorothy "Sally" Baker on January 17, 1948 in Rochelle. He worked for many years as an electrician for Swift and Company. After retiring, he worked many summers for the Rochelle Water Department. He served in USAAF (US Army Air Force) during WWII, serving in England, D-Day in Normandy, France, and Brussels, Belgium. He was a member of the Rochelle United Methodist Church, the Horicon Lodge and a Shriner. Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Sally, on July 16, 2011, his brother, Bill Sexton and four sisters: Dorothy Baker, Barbara Haws, Marilyn Harrolle and Carol Hatfield.

Roy is survived by two sons: Steve (Jan) Frye of Concord, NC and Jeff Frye of Rochelle; two daughters: Patty (Tom) Blickensderfer of Havelock, NC and Tina (Charlie) Musselman of Rochelle; brother, Ernie (Evelyn) Sexton of Liberty, MO, seven grandchildren: Jennifer (Shane) Waters, Michelle Frye, Sarah (Chris) Byers, Amy (John) Knight, Amanda Blickensderfer, Tony (Kelly) and Jeff (Jenny) Musselman; great grandchildren: Jaiden Strobel, Cailyn Metzger, Summer and Steven Reynolds, Katie and Julia Knight, Brandt and Makayla Waters, Calli and Brooke Musselman.

The funeral service will be 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle with Pastor Dave Rogula officiating. The visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00, Tuesday, May 27 at the funeral home with Masonic rites at 7:00 P.M. Burial will follow the funeral service at Trinity Memory Gardens in Rochelle with full military honors provided by the Eastern-Lee Ogle Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rochelle United Methodist Church, Serenity Hospice and Home or Shriner's Childrens Hospital.
