Roy "Coon Hunter" O. Lawson, age 66, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at his home. He was born on January 1, 1946 in Russellville, AL, the son of Rufus O. and Katie Lovett Lawson. Roy married Alpha "Liz" Guffey on July 21, 1978 in Rockford, IL. He worked as a truck driver for MFCH, Inc. Preceded in death by his father: Rufus, and a daughter: Barbara Welch.

Survived by his wife, Liz of Rochelle; son: Roy Lawson, Jr.; of Rochelle, 2 daughters: Becky Lawson, and Bonnie Lawson both of Rockford; brother: Kenneth Lawson of Rockford; sister: Ann Lawson of Dalton, AL; 6 grandchildren: Dustin, Cody, Kayla, Ashley, Shawn, and Shannon; 2 great grandchildren: Tre, and Blake, and numerous nieces and nephews, including great nephew: Landon Gordon.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, January 9, 2012 at the Unger Horner Funeral Home, 400 N 6th St., Rochelle, with Chaplain Judy Williams officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 - 5 pm. A memorial has been establish. Burial at Trinity Memory Gardens.
