Russ Good, 66, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at the Rochelle Community Hospital. Russ was born December 6, 1952 in Mt. Vernon, IL, the son of Russ and Leona (McCormick) Good. He married Nan Dwyer on May 4, 1991 on the farm in Rochelle.
Russ was extremely proud of his military service in the United States Army 25th Infantry Division "Tropic Lightning" from 1974-1981. He served as a member of a Recondo, POW extraction team. Russ was very involved in the Rochelle community sports programs, where he spent many years coaching. He was especially involved in his daughter's sports endeavors. His church family at the First Presbyterian Church of Rochelle was a very important part of his life as was the Tres Dias community.
Russ is survived by his wife, Nan; daughter, Hunter (Jacob Bratton) Good; siblings Sherry Good, Mark Good, Diana Good, Linda Good, Gina Chesnek (Good), and Paul Good; a special family friend who was more like a sister, Sue Stevens; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, Russ and Leona Good, Russ is preceded in death by an uncle, Leland Good, who was lost aboard the USS Arizona at Pearl Harbor.
Cremation care has been accorded by the Unger-Horner Funeral Home. A memorial visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church of Rochelle, 1100 Calvin Road. A celebration of life will follow the visitation at 1:00 P.M. at the church with Rev. Dr. Jim Tilley and Pastor Doug Forsberg officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
