Russell P. "Bo" Bowman, 71, passed away in his home on Thursday, February 6, 2020 after battling cancer. He was surrounded by his wife of 49 years and his four loving children. Bo was born February 2, 1949 in Aberdeen, MS to Robert and Patricia (Crocker) Bowman.
After high school, he enlisted in the Army and served in Vietnam where he learned to drive truck. After completing his tour, Bo married Judy on September 4, 1971 and built a life together in Steward, IL. He continued to truck long distance and locally while they raised their children.
Bo worked hard all his life, and in his free time, he enjoyed being outside - riding his motorcycle, fishing, and hanging out with VFW and trucking buddies. While he didn't always have a lot to say, he could always be counted on for his quick wit and dry humor to spark lively conversation.
Bo is survived by his wife, Judith (nee Arne) Bowman of Rochelle; four children: Jeremy (Erica) Bowman of Fowler, IN; Michelle (Chris) Brantley of Kirkland, IL; Rebekah (Jon) Marty of Stevens Point, WI; and Katherine (Ryan) VanKampen of Aurora, IL. He is also survived by ten grandchildren: Richard (Jasmil), Ivy, Lily and Blaize Bowman, Austin and Cole Brantley, Jonah Marty, Arya, Xander and Thijs VanKampen and four great-grandchildren: Daniel, Layla, Elsie and Kaius.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Patricia (nee Crocker) Bowman and sister, Glenda Bowman.
