Obituary

Ruth Mary "Pete" Glen
After 90 years of a full and well lived life Ruth Mary Glen rejoined her beloved husband, her parents and her Lord surrounded by her loving family at her home on Tuesday, June 26, 2012. Ruth was a wonderful, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who courageously raised her three children on her own after the sudden and unexpected loss of the love of her life, her husband Sheridan, on Dec. 16, 1964. She was born on Nov. 10, 1921 in Elgin, IL to George and Delia (Leiteritz) Baker. After graduating from High School, she attended DePauw University. Ruth married Sheridan A. Glen on March 8, 1944 in Springfield, Illinois. She was a member of the Rochelle United Methodist Church where she faithfully attended for fifty years.
Known as "Pete" to her friends and family, Ruth could do anything she put her mind to. She not only lovingly raised her three children, all of whom she put through college, but she immersed herself in life enjoying antiques, sewing, knitting, needlepoint, painting, drawing, carving, woodworking, refinishing furniture and, most of all, bargain shopping to name a few. She loved her home where she could be found until nearly the age of 90 working in the yard doing everything she could to make her home a welcome place for friends and family. After raising her children she worked for a short time for the City of Rochelle as the Deputy Health Officer. No matter what she did it was done with a smile and a kind word. She loved to engage in a good conversation with her sharp wit and sense of humor enjoying the company of others. She met everyone with grace and kindness and was dearly loved and will be missed by many.
Survivors include: son Sheridan "Rusty" (Rosemary) Glen II of Middleton, WI; daughter: Candy (Dave) Matteson of Mazon, IL; son Jeffrey (Michele) Glen of Rochelle, IL, 6 grandchildren: Alan (Sheryl) Glen, Amanda (Brenden) Petersen, Carrie (Tim) McGinnis, Sonia (Scott) Fischer, Justin (Kayla) Glen and Megan Glen; and 5 great grandchildren.

Cindy Marino on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 10:00 AM. The family requests memorials to Rochelle United Methodist Church or Serenity Hospice and Home.
