Scott A. Mitchell, 54, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 24, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family and friends. Scott was born March 11, 1960 to Harold D. and Ardis (Pierstorff) Mitchell in Berwyn, Illinois. He worked for Del Monte/Silgan for many years and then for Carlson Construction for serveral more years. Scott and Teri Cote have been together since 2001 and married on April 2, 2013 in Oregon, IL. He was preceded in death by his biological mother, Pam Harriod, father, Harold Mitchell, sister, Linda Mitchell, mother-in-law, Ruby Bedford and granddaughter, Aneeya.
Scott is survived by his wife, Teri Mitchell, mother, Ardis Mitchell, son, Matt, 5 daughters: Sara, Sascha, Sara, Shawna and Emily; 3 sisters: Sue (Dave) Conant, Bette Cooper and Pam Pouse; brother, Dan (Barb) Mitchell, 8 grandchildren: Jack, Chase, Nevaeh, Makhi, Breanna, Shanteya, Matea and Malik; 2 sisters-in-law, Kathi (Randy) Johnson and Jeannie (Gary) Lashonse; brother-in-law, Louie Cote, best friend, George Ginn and faithful companion, Bebe Dog.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 16, 2014 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle, with Pastor Joe Gastiger officiating. A celebration service will be held the same day at 2:00 P.M. at the Spring Lake Marina for family and close friends. A memorial has been established.
