Shirley Jean Brown, 79, of Steward, IL passed away peacefully at Lincolnshire Place, Sycamore, IL with family by her side late Friday, March 2, 2018. She was born April 11, 1938 in Rochelle, the daughter of Raymond George and Margel (Kehn) Johnson. She graduated from Rochelle Township High School in 1956. Shirley married Carl James Brown on September 16, 1956 at the Steward United Methodist Church.

She was a member of the Steward United Methodist Church where she enjoyed helping the United Methodist Women and participating in events with the Senior group. Over the years, Shirley enjoyed helping her husband, Carl and son, David with the family farming operations.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; parents, Raymond and Margel and sister, Carol Rae.

Shirley is survived by her son, David Brown of Steward; her daughter, Karen (Jay) Kissack of Algonquin, IL; her brother, Robert (Darlene) Johnson; five grandchildren: Jessica (Justin) Hall, Shawnna (Ben) Doyle, Casey Brown, Logan and Dylan Kissack; great grandchildren: Finleigh and Foster Hall.

Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 10, 2018 with the funeral service immediately following at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home in Rochelle.
