Shirley A. Lantz, 89, passed away Monday, May 2, 2016 in Oregon, Illinois. Shirley was born July 17, 1926 to Donald and Mildred (Metz) Adee in Sycamore, IL. She married Merle D. Lantz on March 1, 1947 in Monroe Center. He preceded her in death on February 11, 2016. She is also predeceased by her parents, her grandson, Christopher Lantz and her sister, Dolores K. Adee. Shirley was a longstanding, active member of the Monroe Center Community Church and The Ladies Guild. Her hobbies were taking care of her family and the extended community. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Shirley is survived by her son, Gordon Lantz of Rockford; her daughter, Rhonda (Larry) Vail of Houston, TX; three grandchildren; Brandon, Brett and Cameron Vail; four great-grandchildren: Anna, Owen, Marcy and Samuel Vail; brother-in-law, Lolan (Wava) Lantz of Monroe Center; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle, IL. The funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the Monroe Center Community Church, 102 West St., Monroe Center with Pastor Bob Mellon officiating.
