Suzanne "Sue" Mae
Felker
April 12, 1931 – April 10, 2026
Suzanne Mae (nee Billig) Felker, 94, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 10, 2026, at her home in Rochelle, Illinois, surrounded by her loving family. Sue was born on April 12, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Hal and Edna (Bain) Billig. She spent her childhood years in Chicago, IL, Lisle, IL (where her family owned Woodridge Golf Course, now known as Seven Bridges), Oregon, IL and Mount Morris, IL. She graduated from Mount Morris High School and attended the University of Colorado-Boulder and briefly taught in a country school in Colorado.
On August 18, 1951, Sue married her childhood sweetheart, Robert "Bob" Hugh Felker, in Mount Morris, Illinois. They raised three children, Bob, Bill and Barb and shared 62 years of love until his passing on February 8, 2013.
Sue was a dedicated housewife and had many cross country relocations thru her husband's employment - DeKalb, IL, Frankfort, IN, Ogden, UT, Logan, UT and Markesan, WI. She spent her remaining years in Rochelle, IL which brought her back closer to her parents. Sue worked as a lab technician at Rochelle Community Hospital for 12 years and built many dear friendships with her coworkers.
In past years, Sue participated in her community by serving on the Rochelle Community Hospital Auxiliary Board and the Hope of Ogle County Board. She enjoyed golf, morning phone conversations with friends and family, antiques, being on the beach in Anna Maria Island, FL, her sweet dog, Sugar, and picnics at the farm, but what she loved most was being with her family and the time she spent with them.
In addition to her parents and husband, Bob, she is preceded in death by her son, Bob; daughter-in-law, Georgia "Dee" Felker, brother-in-law, Albert Felker and her life long friend and unofficially adopted sister, Betty Lu Woods.
Sue is lovingly remembered by her son, Bill (Janell) Felker of Crystal, MN; her daughter, Barb (Ray) Reineck of Rochelle, IL; her cherished grandchildren: Sage (April Aegerter) Felker of Anoka, MN, Ruth (Ron Fischer) Felker of Minneapolis, MN, Ali (Dylan) Reid of Prior Lake, MN, Samuel (Michelle Boxleitner) Felker of Mount Morris, IL, Sarah (Jacob) Zaske of Olathe, KS, Suzie (Mark) Hester of Marengo, IL and Brooke (Max) Sulzberger of Dwight, IL.; daughter-in-law, Barbara Felker; and sister-in-law, Marge Felker. She was blessed to have nine great grandchildren: Sierra, Caleb, Grace, Addison, Shayley, Wren, Emma, Everly and Rowan and numerous nieces, and nephews.
In the last year of her life, she was blessed to have Rhea Belen in her life. Rhea lived with Sue and they enjoyed watching movies, singing and laughing together. Sue's family will be forever grateful for the wonderful care and special person Rhea was to Sue.
Sue deeply loved others and she was fondly called "Ma" or "Momma Sue" by non-family members. Her goodbye will always be remembered ~ "A bushel and a peck and a hug around your neck".
A celebration of Sue's life will be held at 12:00 P.M., Saturday, May 2, 2026 at Luna, 531 S. 7th Street, Rochelle with a luncheon to follow. Pastors Jacob Zaske, Sarah Zaske and Katherine Paisley will be officiating. A private family burial will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Morris, IL at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Serenity Hospice and Home or Hope of Ogle County. The Unger-Horner Funeral Home has assisted the family with Sue's arrangements.
