Rochelle

Terry Galen Petry, 80, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at his home in rural Rochelle, IL with family by his side.  Terry was born on September 10, 1943, the son of Galen C. and Helen M. (Harms) Petry in Rochelle.  In 1961, he graduated from Rochelle Township High School.  On March 20, 1964, he married Cindy Louise Saunders in Rochelle.

Terry was a fourth generation farmer, farming his entire life.  He enjoyed being outside gardening, mowing and fishing.  Terry loved spending time with his family and friends but he especially loved the time he spent with his five granddaughters.

Terry is survived by his wife of 60 years, Cindy of Rochelle; two children: Teresa Petry and Erik Petry both of Rochelle; brother, Larry (Linda) Petry of Belvidere and five granddaughters: Emily Jahnke, Molly, Nora, and Eliza Petry and Caroline (Austin) Petry-Tracey.

There will be a celebration of Terry's life from 1:00 - 3:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Acres Bistro, 407 Lincoln Hwy., Rochelle.  There will be a private family funeral. Burial is at Woodlawn Cemetery in Creston.
