Theresa Marie Caron, "Maman, Grandmaman, Matante" beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, age 100, passed away on March 23, 2012, one day before her 101st Birthday. She was born on March 24, 1911 in St. Julie, Quebec, Canada, the daughter of Alphonse and Eugenie Roy Plourde. She married Rolland H. Caron on July 1, 1933 in Rochelle. He preceded her in death on February 14, 1971. She was also preceded in death by all of her 14 brothers and sisters.
Theresa had a home business as a beautician for 35 years. She also loved to watch hockey games, crochet and was the best soup maker in two countries. She would be the first person to gather the family for a game of Spite & Malice or Rummikub, celebrating her win with a sip of beer. In the early 1980's she began living in Sioux Narrows, Ontario where she made many friends and spent her time walking the bridge, playing cards and taking care of her family there. She will be remembered for devotion to her faith, love of her family and her dedicated way of praying the rosary.
She is survived by her four children: Pauline (the late Winston) Brass of Rochelle, Eugene (Suzanne) Caron of Colorado Springs, CO, Leo (Barbara) Caron of San Diego, CA, and Alice (the late Richard) Motlong of Sioux Narrows, Ontario, Canada; 17 Grandchildren: Renee Brass, Denise (Jeff) Hansford, Andre (Marguerite) Brass, Elise (Jeff) Rexroat, Yvonne Brass, Dionne (Chad) Horner, Jeanette (Brad) Koeller, Paul (Susan) Caron, Christina Caron, Christopher Caron, Marc (Jaime) Caron, Danielle (Rob) Burgoa, Allison Motlong, Chan (Marilyn) Motlong, Kevin (Jen) Motlong, and Beth (Dennis) Chevilier; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great great-granddaughter.
Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at the St. Patrick Catholic Church, Rochelle with the Rev. Steven Lange officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 – 6:30 pm with a Rosary at 6:30 pm at the Unger Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. Burial will be at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery. Memorial to the wishes of the family.
