Thomas James Grennan, 79, went to be with the Lord on Friday April 17, 2026, at Rochelle Community Hospital with his family at his side. He was born on October 14, 1946, in Rochelle, Illinois, the son of John and Mary (McKenna) Grennan. Tom married Christina Alice Pinkston on September 9, 1972, in Genoa, Illinois. Tom enjoyed a full and meaningful life, beginning his career working with his dad, then moving over to Swift. He also did photography for many years on the side and retired from Walmart after working there for 18 years.
He especially treasured time with his grandchildren and found joy in teaching and leading Bible studies, sharing his faith, telling jokes, and making homemade cards to brighten the lives of others.
Tom will be remembered for his kind spirit, his love for the Lord, and the many ways he brought joy to those around him. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bill Grennan and Jack (Cheryl) Grennan; brother-in-law, Ron Primrose; and two infant grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Chris; three children, Jason (Alexandria) Grennan, of Palatka, Florida; Angie (Darryl) McGough of Rochelle; and Jeremy (Rebecca) Grennan of Palatka, Florida; his sister, Pat Primrose, of Rochelle; sister-in-law, Elke Grennan, of Rochelle; 9 grandchildren, Elijah, Violet, and Lily Grennan; McKenna Montes, Miraya Montes, Gabriel Montes, Grace Montes-McGough and Jackson McGough; and Jude Grennan; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 22, from 3:00 until 4:50 p.m. at Unger Horner Funeral Home, 400 North 6th Street, Rochelle. Funeral services will follow at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home, with Reverend Dan Gailey officiating.
