Thomas M. Shimenetto, Sr., age 73, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at the Prairie Crossing and Rehabilitation Center in Shabbona, IL. He was born on February 17, 1942 in Moline, IL, the son of Samuel and Marion (Latina) Shimenetto. Prior to retiring, Tom owned and operated a home remodeling business. He married Susan Nicklas on September 29, 1962 in Chicago, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents. Tom loved building, fishing, baking and gardening.

Survived by his wife, Sue Shimenetto of Steward; three children: Samuel Shimenetto of Lombard, Jacqueline (Jeffery) Suszek of Lombard and Tommy Jr. (Courtney) Shimenetto of Wheeling; seven grandchildren: Tommy, Derek, Brad, Kayla, Taylor, Matthew, and Skyler; and his half sister, Frances Shimenetto of Schiller Park.

Visitation will be on Friday, October 2, 2015 from 11 - 1:00 p.m. at the Unger Horner Funeral Home, 400 N 6th St., Rochelle.
Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday at the Steward Cemetery with Chaplain Jack Briggs officiating. A memorial has been established.
