Rochelle

Toby Larson, 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Bria of Geneva, after a seven year battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Born to Louis and Hilda (Trothing) Larson on October 13, 1940, he grew up, attended school in Rochelle, became a farmer with his partner, Stan Magnusson, married Saundra and had five children.

Spending most of his life in Rochelle, he loved his town. He attended St. Paul Lutheran Church. A perfect family man, he worked hard to provide and give his children a good education. When Saundra passed, he spent his time with family activities, working and his hobby of shooting trap. He could also be found with other farmers at the Sunrise, Butterfly or Moore's Hardware store, until he met and married his current wife, Doris. They enjoyed a wonderful marriage and when they retired, they moved to Florida and traveled. Three years into his illness, he returned to the area and entered memory care closer to his home and children. He passed with his wife, daughter, Susie and her husband at his bedside.

Toby's humor, kindness, gentle spirit and love of family will be greatly missed by his wife, Doris Larson; children: Shelly Barkei, Sherry (Robert) Thompson, Todd (Melaney) Larson, Susan (Dan) Hanlin and Troy (Julie) Larson; step sons: Christopher (Megan) Miller and Scott (Jackie) Miller; grandchildren: Brandon Barkei, Kelsey (Garrett) Koch, Blake Toliver, Conner Burger, Taylor Burger, Austin Loyd, Nolan Larson and Bailey Larson; step grandchildren: Brennan Miller, Keegan Miller, Kylie Miller, Morgan Miller, Brooke Miller and Trenton Miller; great grandchildren: Dani Loyd and Harper Koch; sister, Louise Doner and niece, Julie Ellis and nephew, Joey Doner.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Saundra.

There will be a graveside service at 11:00 A.M., Monday, April 25, 2022 at Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle, IL with Joy Alsop officiating.
