Valerie Jo Schabacker, 76, of Chana, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. She was born September 30, 1946, in Pekin, IL, the daughter of Frank and Lorene (Egli) McCoy. She married Thomas L. Schabacker on April 4, 1986, in Rochelle.

Val was a homemaker who took great pride in raising her family. She loved nature, her cats, and Harley-Davidson motorcycles. She was an avid fan of the San Diego Chargers.

Val is survived by her husband, Tom; three sons, David (Eileen) Herrmann, Douglas (Janelle) Herrmann, and Chad (Myra) Schabacker; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; a brother, Frank (Victoria) McCoy; two sisters, Nona (Jim) Krannawitter and Deborah (Eric) Leoni; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Val is preceded in death by a daughter, Michelle "Shelly" Triplett.

Visitation will be from 3-5 P.M. on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th Street in Rochelle. Cremation care will be provided following the visitation. Entombment of cremated remains will take place at a later date in Lawnridge Mausoleum, Rochelle.
