Velma R. Gray, 91 of Rochelle, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012 at her home. She was
born on January 4, 1921 in Franklin Co. IL, the daughter of Floy and Bly (Carlton) Kern. Velma married Robert Gray on May 31, 1941 in Perryville, MO and he preceded her on Sept. 2, 1997. She worked as an elementary school teacher retiring from Lincoln school after 30 years of teaching. Member of the Friendly Society, Order of The Eastern Star and Rochelle United Methodist Church. Velma was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Ernest, Everett, and Charles; 1 sister: Marjorie LaMont.
Survivors include son: Robert (MaryAnn) Gray of Lutherville, MD; daughter: Judy (Rodney) Prielipp of Paw Paw, IL; grandchildren: Jeanette (Jeff) Jordan, Heather (Scott)Schuster, Alison (Brad) Haynes, Kendall, Kiley, Halle, and Austin Gray.
Services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday Feb. 14, 2012 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home in Rochelle, with Rev. Cindy Marino officiating. Visitation at Unger-Horner on Monday Feb. 13 from 4 - 7 PM. Burial at Lawridge Cemetery. Family request memorials to Rochelle United Methodist Church.
