Obituary

Vera Lucille McQueen, 98, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at Rochelle Rehabilitation Center in Rochelle, Illinois.

Vera was born November 19th, 1914, in Lindenwood, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Mable Reints Strang. She was a member of the Esmond Methodist Church. She enjoyed quilting and collecting dolls and angels. She was an avid Chicago Bulls fan. Vera married William Blair McQueen on December 14, 1935 in Rockford, Illinois. William preceded her on August 13, 1980. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Carolyn Miller; four brothers: Clarence, Calvin, Willard and Francis; eight sisters: Edna Beach, Cora Beck, Fern Rittmeyer, Marie Donahue, Stella Baker, Edith Hill, Ruth Harrole, and Grace Huntley; and two grandchildren: William Raymond Kasmar and Veronica Blair McQueen.

Vera is survived by one son, Robert (Sarah) McQueen of Montgomery, Alabama; two daughters: Ruth (Don) Patterson of Las Cruces, New Mexico and Nancy (Stephen) Hopkins of Esmond, Illinois; two sisters: Iris Sturgill and Margaret Hoffman both of Rochelle; one sister-in-law, Ruth Strang; 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, January 28th, 2013 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home in Rochelle, Illinois. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. There will be a luncheon following the burial at the Esmond Methodist Church in Esmond, Illinois. Burial will be at Greenview Cemetery in Esmond. Memorials to the Esmond Methodist Church and Greenview Cemetery in Esmond.
