Verla Mae Davey, 88 of Creston, IL, passed away Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Rochelle
Community Hospital. She was born on July 18, 1921 in Creston, IL to Andrew and Fannie Louise (Pickwell) Sampson. Verla married James Richard Davey on April 15, 1944 in Creston.
She graduated from Rochelle Township High School in 1939 and attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb for 3 years. Verla was a farmers wife, was employed by Wirlitzer in DeKalb, was a clerk at the Driver's Station in Rochelle, and was a toll clerk in Dixon retiring in 1977. Survivors include her husband Jim and son: Dennis James Davey both of Creston.
Services are Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 11:30 AM at Unger-Horner Funeral Home in Rochelle.
Visitation will be prior to the service from 10 to 11:15 AM on Thursday. Burial at Woodlawn Cemetery in Creston. Memorials to Creston United Methodist Church.
