Vernon L."Bud" Pfeiffer, 88 of Rochelle, passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 in Rochelle. He was born on Sept. 17, 1921 on the family farm near Ashton, IL, the son of Henry and Anna (Schaneberg) Pfeiffer. Vernon married Helen E. Walsh on Feb. 25, 1950 in Rochelle and she preceded him on June 15, 1997. Also preceding were 2 sisters: Iola Droege and Bernice Gehant; and brother: Vance Pfeiffer. Prior to retiring, Vernon farmed in the Ashton area and was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Lee County Farm Bureau.

Survivors include 3 sons: Gerald (Marilie) Pfeiffer of Peoria, Dennis (Edy) Pfeiffer of Ashton, and Steven (Kathy) Pfeiffer of Rochelle: grandchildren: Jason and Jeffrey Pfeiffer, Ann Kube, Amy Pfeiffer, Jill Pfeiffer, Jamie Pfeiffer, Trisha Vaughn and Laura Irk; great grandchildren:
Clare, Katie and Richie Kube; Kaitlynn, Grace, Helen, and Brandon Pfeiffer; and Veronica and Alexis Vaughn; special cousins: June Eich and Irene Lawson.

Services will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Rochelle on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at
10:00 AM. Visitation at Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N 6th St. in Rochelle on Friday, March 5, 2010 from 4 to 8 PM. Burial at St. Patrick Cemetery. Memorials may be made to
St. Patrick Catholic Church or to the American Cancer Society.
