Victoria Ponce López, age 73, passed away on Friday, January 30, 2026 at the Serenity Hospice Home in Oregon, IL with her family at her side. She was born on February 5,1952 in Eagle Pass, TX, the daughter of Vicente Ruelas and Anna P Fernandez. Victoria worked at Eaton's in Rochelle along side her husband Luis M. López for 45 years. They just celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on December 28th. Victoria loved cooking for her family, especially her grandchildren. Victoria had a passion for helping others, enjoyed listening to music, watching her soap operas, reading, and time spent in peace and quiet with the ones she loved. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Francisco Fernandez, and grandson, Christopher Ross.
Survived by her husband, Luis López, Sr., 3 children: Victoria Cavenagh of Rochelle, Luis López Jr., of Rochelle, and Sofia (Christopher) Aldama of Omaha, NE; 7 grandchildren: Daniel (Martina) Ross, Eric Ross, Joshua Gibbons, Anastasia López, Kayla Aldama, Alessandro Aldama, and Andreas Aldama; brother, Jose (Carmen) Fernandez of Austin, TX, and sister, Yolanda Fernandez of Mission, TX.

Visitation will be held from 5 - 8 P.M. on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at the Unger Horner Funeral Home, 400 N 6th St., Rochelle. Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 A,.M. on Friday, February 6, 2026 at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Jesus Dominguez officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery.
