Violet Ruth Honeg, 92, peacefully joined our Lord, on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 in Byron, Illinois. Violet was born on December 28, 1925 to Walter D. and Beulah M. (Munts) Hodgkins in Millbrook Township, IL. She married Joseph F. Honeg on November 3, 1947 in Gladstone, IL. She was a homemaker for many years and later worked as a radio dispatcher for river barges in Peoria, IL. She was a former member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in East Peoria, IL and most recently of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rochelle, IL. Violet enjoyed Bible study, reading, crossword puzzles, and visiting with friends and family, especially her children and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; sister, Ellen Prince and two brothers: Walter Lee and Gerald.

Violet is survived by her five daughters: Marcia Schrage of Fountain Hills, AZ, Rhonda (Robert) Schmitt of Belleville, NJ, Sheryl (Danny) Evans of Georgetown, TX, Janet Roberts of Sugarland, TX and Jeri (Michael) Wethington of Stillman Valley, IL; ten grandchildren: Jan Paul (Melisa) Schrage, Daniel (Ann) Schrage, Melinda (Jana) Schmitt, Michael (Shannon) Schmitt, Emily and Eric Schmitt, Kasey (Ashley) Dillard, Cody Roberts, Cori (John) Lamberson, and Amy Wethington; and eight great grandchildren: Jackson and Mark Schrage, Charles, Lucas and Benjamin Schmitt, Mary Bright, Shepard and Sutton Dillard. The family expresses their gratitude to both the staff at Generations Neighbors, in Byron and Unity Hospice in Rochelle. Memorials may be offered to Tails Rescue, 2250 Barber Greene Rd.,DeKalb,IL, 60115, Unity Hospice in Rochelle, IL, or St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rochelle,IL.
