Virgie Mae Baker, 86, passed away Monday, January 27, 2014 at the DeKalb County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in DeKalb, Illinois. Virgie was born March 10, 1927 in Greenville, Missouri to George and Mary (Hicks) Marler. She married Eugene "Shin" Baker on September 20, 1944 in Oregon, Illinois. Shin preceded her in death on November 11, 2013. Virgie attended the First Baptist Church in Rochelle. She was also predeceased by her twin brother, Virgil, at birth, her parents and two sisters: Pauline Elder and Jewel Ward.
Virgie is survived by her son, Larry (Teresa) of Rochelle, two grandchildren: Angel and Adam Baker both of Rochelle; brother, Earl (Jan) Marler and two sisters: Beulah "Boots" (Bill) Gobtop and Lois Utley.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM on Friday, January 31, 2014 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. The visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Thursday, January 30 at the funeral home. Burial is at Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle. A memorial has been established.
