Virgilia De La Torre De Cabrera Perez, 86, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 8, 2024. She was born November 27, 1937, in Mexico, the daughter of Carlos De La Torre Melendez and Carolina Reyes.

Virgilia worked at Rochelle Foods. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Rochelle. She loved dancing and spending time with family. She enjoyed trips to the casino, bingo, and listening to music. She loved being outdoors, planting flowers and watching birds. She cared for all animals, especially her pets. Virgilia was an avid fan of the Club America soccer team of the Liga MX.

Virgilia is survived by her children, Andrea (Juan) Perez, Lazara (Jose Luis) Alcantara, Otilia De La Torre, Virginia Sanchez, Irene (Antonio) Belmonte, Marisela (Ydelfonso) Garcia, Elizabeth (Jose) Perez, and Susan (Steve) Thompson; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Carlos (Gloria) De La Torre; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Virgilia is preceded in death by her husband, Higinio C. Perez on May 2, 2011, siblings, son and daughter.

Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M., Monday, March 11, 2024, at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St. in Rochelle.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 244 Kelley Drive, in Rochelle with Father Jesus Dominguez officiating. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Rochelle. Please visit www.ungerhorner.com to sign the online guest book.
