Warren H. Moe, 85, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the Rochelle Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. He was born February 18, 1928 in Chicago, IL, the son of Warren H. and Mildred (Brown) Moe. He attended Hyde Park High School in Chicago, and graduated from Western Illinois University in Macomb. Warren was past president of Kappa Sigma Kappa Social Fraternity and Alpha Delta Honorary English Fraternity. He served with the 1st Calvary Division during the conflict in Korea 1951. He married Caroline L. Anderson August 29th, 1953 in Little York, Illinois. Warren worked for Swift and Company from 1952 thru 1986 in several management positions in Rochelle, Chicago, Sioux City, Iowa and Yakima, Washington. He served on the Rochelle Library and Utility Boards. He was a member of the Rochelle American Legion Post #0403, lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Horicon Masonic Lodge #244, Rochelle Kiwanis Golden K, lifetime member of Kiwanis International, past member of the Tebala Shrine and Valley of Freeport Consistory. Warren was a recipient of the Hixson Fellowship and the Amador Medallion Award. He served as Lt. Governor of Division #13. He also was past president, secretary and on the board of directors for the Rochelle Golden K and a member of the Rochelle United Methodist Church where he served as chairman of several committees.
Survivors include his wife, Caroline, two daughters: Pamela (Dan) McCluskey of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin and Niki Moe Horrell of Evanston, IL; grandchildren: Matthew and Katie McCluskey, Nicholas, Joshua and Harrison Horrell and three bonus grandchildren: Jonny, Billy and Jay Horrell.
The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at the Rochelle United Methodist Church, 709 4th Ave. Rochelle, IL. The visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St. with a Masonic Service at 7:00 p.m. Burial is 1:30 at the Lawnridge Cemetery with military services provided by the Eastern Lee & Ogle Honor guard. Memorials may be made in Warren's name to the Golden K Scholarship Fund or the Rochelle United Methodist Church.
