Rochelle

William M. Grennan, 73, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at OSF St. Anthony's Hospital in Rockford, IL. He was born September 2, 1940 in Sterling, IL to John J. and Mary (McKenna) Grennan. Bill married Elke Fischer on July 17, 1977 in Rochelle. He owned Grennan's Shoes, and worked for Swift & Co., Caron International and Kable News in Mt. Morris. He served our country through his service in the National Guard and generously was an organ donor. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Ron Primrose.

Bill is survived by his wife, Elke, two sons: Eric (fiancee, Saboorah Darling) of Chandler, AZ and Ryan of Rochelle; his sister, Pat Primrose of Rochelle, two brothers: Jack (Cheryl) of Rochelle and Tom (Chris) of Rochelle and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, September 14, 2013 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle, with Father Juan Ayala officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 - 1:45 P.M. the same day at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Lawnridge Mausoleum in Rochelle with military honors provided by Eastern Ogle/Lee Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House or the American Cancer Society. All are invited for a luncheon at St. Patrick Parish Center following the committal services.
