William Francis Lower, 95 of Rochelle, passed away on Wed. Dec. 29, 2010 at Rochelle Rehabilitation Center. He was born on Sept. 7, 1915 in Rochelle to
Elmer I. and Elizabeth B. (Odenthal) Lower. He attended the Catholic High School in
Rochelle, which was built in 1929, for two years and then graduated from Rochelle Township
High School in 1933. Bill married Lois Mary Reed on July 9, 1934 in Rochelle.
He had been employed by Rochelle Gas, Allied Gas, and was a Supervisor for Northern Il Gas retiring in 1972. Since 1958, he was a volunteer fireman for the City of Rochelle
and in 1972 he became Fire Chief, retiring in 1980. Bill was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Lawrence and Paul and 3 sisters: Lillian Gash,
Virginia Smelcer and Dorothy Lower (infant); his wife: Lois on March 12, 2007, daughter: Mary Lower and great granddaughter: Jennifer Kay Cavanaugh.
Survivors include 3 sons: Richard (Shirley) Lower of St. Petersburg, FL , Robert (Barbara) Lower
of Mustang, OK, and James (Julie) Lower of Katy, TX; daughter: Kathleen (Tom) Aller
of Cedar Rapids, IA; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Services will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Monday, Jan. 3, 2011 at 10:00 AM.
Visitation will be at Unger-Horner Funeral Home in Rochelle, on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011 from 2 to 5 PM. Memorials can be made to Rochelle Fire Department, St. Patrick Catholic Church or the donor's choice. Burial will be at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery.
